I loooove the concept of DIY spring rolls. Their known for their deep fried cat fish and hot pot. Food was good and service was great. Everyone is friendly and checks on you throughout the meal. Make sure to go early to beat the dinner rush because it does get busy.

Only downside is that I found a fly in the lettuce :( but would still eat this place!

Oh my gosh. Boy am I soooooo happy to be part Vietnamese. We are a powerful food force! ^_^
This place is FAMOUS for their fried catfish and for good reason. Just look, wait no, don't just look. Fully IMMERSE yourself in the image and just i m a g i n e you taking that first bite, it's crunchy then sweet and savory and warm and just melts into golden GOODNESS into your mouth. It tastes amazing !

I'm a really picky eater, like SUPER PICKY. To the point, where I didn't use the sauce nor the wrap to eat it with even though that IS the traditional way of eating this. I just kept getting the lettuce and putting the fish on top and consumed it like it was water. Dear lord in heaven, if I shall perish in the next 24 hours, let me remember this taste. If you want to try genuine Vietnamese food, come hither child. For I shall lure you into a world of deliciousness !

Service wise, this place was alright. Not subpar, but not over the top amazing either. there was a waiter who came by and asked us if we needed anything else or if we needed anymore water/ other drinks. etc etc.

Overall: 9/10 Recommend. Some pieces of lettuce, just like 1/2 pieces weren't as fresh as I would want them to be. But other than that, that catfish was bOMBBB AF. !

Had lunch here the other day and simply ate the catfish only and we all came down with some kind of food poisoning.

We feel it's from the lettuce that we ate. Because the ones that did nit eat the lettuce did nit get sick.

Be careful when eating here. Been bed ridden for 2 days. Bad stomach issues.

But the service was good. So I'm giving them at least an extra star for that.

Thien An has been one of my family's go-to restaurants for ca nuong for years.
Typically, we call in beforehand to order our fish so it's ready around the time we arrive. We're also a big family so it's always a good idea to make sure they can accommodate us.

Their roasted fish is great - crispy skin, melty fat and the catfish is so fresh. If you've never had 7 course beef or roasted fish, it's a fun group meal - recommended to east as a big group. Interactive - you make your own spring rolls. Variety - you have vermicelli, herbs, different proteins and amazing SAUCES.

My favorite sauce is easily the tamarind, cause it's sweet and savory. It complements the white catfish so well. Throw some lemongrass up in your roll, and it's a flavor paradise.
On top of the fish, we typically get a couple beef dishes. The usual is bo la lot, which is herbed minced beef wrapped in a leaf (la lot). So much flavor, I like doing a cool surf and turf roll to mix it up. My other beef favorite is the bo mo chai, which is a chewy "sausage" - if you're not into intestine casings, it may be much for you, but I dig it.

There is a lot of different types of beef to try, so if you're feeling overwhelmed, ask the staff their suggestions - most of them can speak English pretty well and can help you order. Or you can do their fixed menus, which requires very little thinking!

note: Minus one star due to poor service our last visit - called beforehand, food took so long to come out, even though the restaurant was only half full. Also, the server didn't handle the pressure well and cut me off multiple times when I arrived to let him know we called beforehand. But hey, we got free ice cream after. (Coconut was the best.)

My uncle is from LA and he took us out to eat here.  I kid you not when I say this might've been my favorite meal out of all the spots we went to.  It's a classic Vietnamese restaurant where everything is served family style.  We ordered catfish, meatballs, grape leaf beef, and washed them all down with Heinekins.  The waiter was a funny guy and his service was very quick.  Highly recommended for a large group.
